Gathering Around the Dining Table

Autumn is among us!
Tis the season where outdoor living wanes and we gather inside with friends and family. Just as the leaves on the trees change colors for the season, so should your tables! We have four simple tablescapes we created in our showrooms that you can easily make in your own home!
Inspired by the colors of spices and produce harvested for seasonal dishes, our exclusive Global Imports rug sets an Autumn backdrop when draped as a tablecloth. The dramatic centerpiece is a glass terrarium hung from the pinnacle of a mounted abstract teak root. Individual condiment sets alongside each place setting shows attentiveness to every guest. We used old iron keys to add rustic charm. Finally, we layered in natural textures with rattan placemats and wood plates handmade in Indonesia along with antique hand painted plates we found in England.
What if you don’t have those colors in your dining room? One really easy tip is to pull colors from existing elements in your space. On this table our color inspiration came from the jewel-toned Lotus leaf art piece. Two wall hanging tapestries from India are joined together as an exotic, regal surface. These tapestries, hand embroidered with lots of goldwork, glass and pearl beads along with sequins in arches and arabesque motifs, create a dramatic base for this setting. On this table we layered amethyst and amber placemats. Not only does it add more color and visual interest, it elevates the dining surface. Instead of a runner or arrangement, we grounded three multifaceted star mirrors. Adding candles or dimming the lights make for a dazzling evening tablescape this season.
Not ready to say goodbye to summer quite yet? Our tropical inspired table can ease you into fall with muted colors that whisper Autumn. By placing two runners diagonally across the table you can add interest to your table without being formal. Inspired by the colors in the embroidery on the runners, we used a leafy green rattan placemat as our accent. Around the table on each setting are either natural wooden pineapples or organic stars as plates. Our centerpiece adds an interesting burst of color and texture with our pottery from Thailand with dried palms, branches, and tropical faux florals. We also used a freestanding teak bowl as a wine bucket.
Exotic Home Coastal Outlet is synonymous with the coastal lifestyle. We can’t forget about a coastal inspired fall table! Imagine walking along the beach with the crisp air coming in from the water, the sea oats on the dunes starting to fade their summer color. This was our guide for our coastal table! We collected sand from the shores of Virginia Beach and filled blown glass balls in a pumpkin hue and filled them with dried palms to provide a tall, wispy row of foliage. Backdropped against our one-of-a-kind teak blue-washed table from India – we skipped a table cloth to let this gorgeous table shine. For the last little detail we folded Batik printed napkins into small brown conch shells.
There are so many possibilities for creating the perfectly unique tabletop. We have everything you need at Exotic Home Coastal Outlet!
